Diamond engagement ring – platinum or white gold?
When considering buying a diamond engagement ring, often the first question that couples ask is: do we choose platinum or white gold? I think the question should rather be: platinum or gold? White metal or yellow metal?
To illustrate my point, we must first examine the diamond itself: What is the exact size or carat diamond you're looking for? This in turn be affected by the price they will pay for your diamond andwhich of the four Cs you attach most importance to: cut, carat weight, colour or clarity.
Many people think of a one carat diamond, measuring about 6.5 millimeters in diameter, as the ideal size for an engagement ring – not too big and not too small. Now, a one carat diamond, which has excellent grades in all four Cs, might cost around £10,000, a pretty hefty investment for most people, to say the least. So, as with all major purchases, compromises will likely have to be done.
So does not deviate too far from my original argument, consider a one carat diamond loose food, for example, ВЈ 2,000. It will probably be a good cut, color, and J (a small yellow colored) and SI2 clarity (which includes not visible to the naked eye). A perfect place for that diamond in yellow gold, perhaps because the white platinum diamond can intensify the color of yellow, while the yellow gold setting is more likelysupplements.
On the other hand, your first priority in a clean, colorless diamond with a perfect cut and a couple of possible inclusions, but the budget will remain the same at ВЈ 2,000. In this case, bulk carats of diamonds to fall approximately 0.65 carats, but your diamond will be ideal cut, F color (colorless) and clarity VVS1 (very small inclusions visible only under a microscope). And here's the best part: a 0.65 carat diamond is below 5.6 mm on the Web0.9 mm to less than one carat diamond.
I had a book on the various possibilities of round brilliant cut diamonds and write different types of fancy diamonds available to cite, but the topic of how you choose metal for your diamond engagement ring to return to the time of the elections was really between platinum or yellow gold.
Why not white gold? Well, first, of course, white is not the natural color of gold, soOrder) to get the white (ish, yellow gold is alloyed with white metals such as nickel or palladium. Because these metals, particularly nickel, a skin irritant to sensitive people, and also because the league is still a faint yellow color, so alloy coated with a second, hypoallergenic white metal called rhodium. This layer is very thin and may start to wear out after a year or two, and your ring will be re-plated to preserve its whitenessand its hypoallergenic properties.
Platinum is the other part is used in almost perfect condition. And 'Pure white, very strong, not tarnish and is the perfect complement to your diamond white.
So, to summarize, the choice is really between platinum and yellow gold. A setting platinum ring should cost about 350 pounds and a gold down about 200 pounds (that's the price Internet – you can double the high street!). The additional cost of platinum can easilybe absorbed by some compromise 'on the specific link, if not quite 150 pounds is really a problem if you believe that a platinum diamond will last more than one life.
It 'important to remember that the prices for loose diamonds and settings I use in my examples on the web its prices. Expect to pay at least two of the high street for the same products.
